Happy Birthday David!!!
Well I'm a little behind on blogging these days. David's birthday was a week ago and the girls were SO EXCITED to celebrate his birthday. They couldn't even wait until Saturday to do it and were shoving his present in his face on Friday night (before dinner) and Olivia right behind Mia with the ice cream cake. It was cute. Saturday night we did enjoy a dinner out with the Berglers. We went to a FABULOUS restaurant Paley's Place. We had an even bigger treat when we arrived our table was outfitted with wine picked out especially from the Rosario's in Japan. It was a great evening!

All I want is my two front teeth!
Olivia has been working on loosening her front teeth. Well she's done a good job and here is a shot of her on Monday. Her last tooth on the bottom she let get so loose she ended up swallowing it at night so she was determined to place this one under her pillow.

Here she is Tuesday afternoon. After biting some food it pretty much was ready. Mia was wondering why her teeth aren't coming out and told me it's not fair (these are her famous words).

Happy Valentine's Day!!!
Mia had her first classroom Valentine's day party. She really enjoyed exchanging her cards with her classmates.

Of course both schools had their parties scheduled at the exact same time. Luckily my girlfriend was able to capture Olivia at her party. I'm not sure how people do it with more kids because with both of them in school now I feel like I'm always trying to decide which event I'll attend. I guess that's not a real problem so I'll stop complaining:-)

Sunriver Weekend
The girls and I spent last weekend in Sunriver with my parents, sister, Ian & cousin Taeya. We had a great time.
Ian brought the Wii and Olivia really enjoyed pretty much every game she played.

It didn't snow but we managed to find some snow to pull the girls in a sled.

Clearly, Taeya enjoyed herself.

Kids say the funniest things...
Olivia came home from school the other day with a treat from her friend Jakob. Jakob's mom makes some pretty cute treats for the kids during the holidays. Here's the conversation...
Olivia asks me "what does bomb me?"
I thought it was kind of a random question but I continue to explain what a bomb is...
Olivia's response to me "well that seems a little weird because Jakob told the class that these treats were the bomb"...I couldn't stop laughing. So now Olivia likes to throw out "mom, this is the bomb!" Her dad is out of town so I look forward to seeing his face when she uses this phrase around him.

Carlsbad Marathon
In September we sent an email to our friends inviting them to join us in sunny San Diego for a little weekend work out. Well to our surprise we were able to get two people to join us, Tim & Sonia. So began the training through the wet, snowy winter weather in Portland. Sonia and I training for the marathon, David and Tim for the 1/2 marathon. January 23rd came very fast and off we were headed to the race.
Once we arrived in San Diego that Friday night we headed to dinner with some of our friends that live there. It was fun to catch up with them and they are usually the ones that travel to see us at Beaver games.

This was a cute little outdoor bar.

Saturday was a bit of a recovery day (apparently we forgot we were doing a race on Sunday) and basically preparing for the race.
Sunday AM - wake up at 4:00 am...they had a marathon start time of 6am! Yikes it was early. Here we are getting ready for our start time. The guys didn't have to start until 7:30 am.

The race went well. Sonia ran very fast and qualified for the Boston Marathon. In under the time needed to do so...she's fast! My time was actually a little slower than last year but I enjoyed the race more except at mile 20 when I had a few moments of breakdown. David and Tim enjoyed their race (or I'm not sure Tim would say "enjoyed") but I think he was glad he did it.
Here's a picture of the 4 of us in all our pain and glory!
After some much needed rest time we headed back out in the evening to La Jolla. Where we had dinner and went to see a movie...Gran Torino. It was a great movie, I highly recommend it.
All in all it was a fun weekend! Thanks team Bergler for joining us...

Happy New Year!!!
Hello 2009! It's been a wild year and I think my husband is glad to see it come to close in regards to the financial industry. On New Year's eve the girls went to have a slumber party with my parents and their cousin Taeya was there so they were very excited. David and I headed to a dinner party with our friends. In the past we've always gone out but this year we thought about just doing something low key. The Berglers hosted an italian themed dinner. Every couple had a different dish and drink and so it was a fun night. David two years ago started a tradition at New Year's of running 2 miles. I'm not sure where the exact mileage came in to play but the first year it was just him, last year just him & Sonia and this year they were able to grab two more people with them. David is really hoping for 8 people to run with him next year...gotta love the enthusiasm!
We all spent the night (thanks to the Bergler Hotel) and woke up to cinnamon rolls baking with hot coffee. Then we got our kids and headed back to their house for an afternoon of football and pizza. It was so much fun!
We hope you all enjoyed a wonderful New Years and wish you the best in 2009!!!
